Original Character Sheet FAQ
  • Q: Who created these things?
  • A: The character sheets found on this site were all created by me, fantasy illustrator Talon Dunning. You can learn more about me here.
  • Q: How did you create them?
  • A: The sheets were all created with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign on a Mac.
  • Q: Are these sheets official?
  • A: No. I created them mostly because I like my own character sheets to look as cool as possible, and official character sheets are rarely well designed, much less "cool." While they are all certainly based on the official sheets, with the exception of the World of Darkness sheets, the designs are 100% original. I've tried very hard to make them streamlined, logical and playable while still being aesthetically pleasing.
  • Q: These are all in color, but I only have a b/w printer. Does that matter?
  • A: They will work just as well in b/w as in color.
  • Q: How do you choose which games you'll make a sheet for?
  • A: I create these sheets as I need them for my own games, so if the selection is a little haphazard, its just because I've played a lot of games over the years.
  • Q: Can I use your sheet(s) on my website?
  • A: Sure, as long as I get credit for them. At least provide a link back here.
  • Q: Why do some sheets have a font listed with them?
  • A: It's because the font I used to create that sheet wouldn't imbed in the PDF and must be loaded on your computer in order for the sheet to look right. If you want to use a sheet with a required font, just download and install the listed TrueType font first.
  • Q: I'm interested in getting you to create a sheet for a particular game. Can you do that?
  • A: Maybe. It depends on what kind of time I have and how much you're willing to pay for it. Contact me, and we can discuss it.
  • Q: Why is the resolution of the graphics not all that great?
  • A: In order to create PDFs of a reasonable size, I had to "optimize for web viewing," which means the resolution of the graphics suffers. If you'd like a hi-rez version, let me know and I'll make you one. It will probably be over a megabyte, though.
  • Q: "Bygones?" Seriously?
    • A: Yep. See, I create these sheets as I develop a need for them. Very few were actually created for the sake of having one. As I recently found myself in need of a sheet for a character created using the rules in the World of Darkness book, The Bygone Bestiary, I made a Bygones sheet.
